Sam Hane is the patron spirit of Halloween. He is a skeleton with a jack-o'-lantern head and a straw hat. He is called the Great Halloweenie Spirit, the Great Pumpkin, the Hollow King of Halloween, and Skeleton Sam.

Every year, twelve nights before Halloween, Sam Hane rises from his grave and thins the veil between worlds. On Halloween night (the thirteenth night) Sam releases all ghouls, ghosts, goblins, monsters, and spirits.

These spooky creatures love to give everyone a good fright, but Sam Hane makes sure no spirit gets too wild. He watches over trick-or-treaters and keeps them safe.

Sam, a prankster, causes harmless mischief wherever he goes. He enjoys giving people a good spook, but always departs with a wink and a smile, leaving them in peace.

As Halloween night ends, Sam gathers all ghouls and leads them home. He lets the gentler spirits stay for a few days, and then guides them back home as well.
